Two-Hour Rule

If you don't feel as good two hours after exercise as at baseline, you may have done too much. Recovery from exercise should ideally occur within about two hours.

How to practice

  1. 1Note how you feel before exercise (baseline)
  2. 2Exercise at appropriate intensity
  3. 3Check how you feel two hours after exercise
  4. 4If you feel worse than baseline, reduce intensity or duration next time
  5. 5Recovery should occur within about two hours

Important for MS: Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting new techniques, especially if you have specific MS-related concerns. Individual responses to techniques vary, and what works for one person may need adjustment for another.
